The Winding House is the museum for Caerphilly County Borough, with engaging exhibitions on local history and heritage, hands-on activities and an exciting events programme. Explore the history and culture of the local area and discover the original Victorian winding engine, which runs at special events and on Bank Holidays. We also have a research room, gift and coffee shop. Come along and discover more!

Getting here
By road:
From the A465, Heads of the Valley road – take the A469 towards Rhymney and Bargoed and follow until you reach New Tredegar. From the direction of Caerphilly – follow the A469 to Ystrad Mynach and Bargoed and follow signs to New Tredegar. Once in New Tredegar, follow the brown signs.
Parking:
Small car park in front of the museum with accessible parking bays. Large overflow car park close to the museum over the pedestrian footbridge.
