Dewstow Gardens and Grottoes

Good for Groups

Dewstow Gardens is one of the least known of all the attractions in southern Wales, but also one of the most interesting. The gardens are a wonderful place to wander in themselves, with a beautifully landscaped paths and decorative beds, articifical waterfalls and man-made pools, but it's Dewstow Grottoes that make this place really fascinating.

The Grottoes are artificial too- no natural limestone caves here- but they are no less attractive for it. The tunnels, archways, and sunken fern gardens were built in the Victorian era and completely buried around the time of the second world war. It's only over the last few years that excavation and restoration has revealed them again.

The Dewstow Gardens site covers 8 acres, so there is plenty to see and do. Season tickets are available.
