Raglan Castle

Good for Gardens, Parks & Woods

Raglan Castle remains the finest late medieval fortress in Britain and survived one of the longest sieges of the Civil War. It was built in the mid-15th century and remodelled in the Tudor period.

Today, it's popular with visitors because the remains are so spectacular- few of the UK's many castles and fortresses can compare with Raglan's massive but intricate towers. Although the castle is in ruins many of the fine details have survived the centuries remarkably well.

A number of big budget historical drama series have been filmed there. It's easy to see why. For sheer romance, Raglan might be the finest of all Welsh Castles. It's a little off the beaten track but well worth a visit.
