Coal Dust Mandala
Coal is made from ancient carbon deposit; it could be seen to represent both our beginning, and ultimately our end.
Additionally in the context of South Wales, it is loaded with socio-political meaning and symbolism. Somehow Anderson counter-balances its emotive heritage with the mysterious beauty of its actual substance; its seductive shimmering darkness. Anderson uses coal in an almost ritualistic way, on a daily basis, to make his coal dust 'mandala'.
Each work is composed of a carefully executed solid form which is produced by applying layers of coal dust onto a selected piece of ephemeral material. The works take on a transcendent and poetic power.

Field-notes
Maps have always been a source of inspiration for Iwan Bala. Their intrigue lies in their multiple meanings and their potential for subjective (re)interpretation.
The map combines imagery and word in a meaningful and harmonious relationship. For this exhibition, it is this very dialogue that brought together artist Iwan Bala, and poet and playwright Menna Elfyn. She comments writing is all about field-workwe know too well that we are only passing through as we sub-consciously make our own personal field-notes. Iwan Bala and Menna Elfyn have collaborated, bringing words and images together; the pieces on show are his field-notes, in response to her poems. This exhibition offers an insight into their mutual fascination with lifting and sifting through cae hir (long field).

Dinefwr Park Photography Workshop
Dinefwr Park is a magical land of power and has been of great historic influence for more than 2,000 years. Situated in a strategic position, the Castle has a commanding view of the Twyi Valley and Newton House is set within a landscape of undulating topography and ancient trees that give it a special ambience.
Managed by the National Trust, Dinefwr Park was designated a National Nature Reserve in 2007 in recognition of the outstanding number of veteran oak trees and the insects that they support. Numerous landscape compositions and wildlife subjects abound here and we will spend time stalking the herd of 100 fallow deer and photographing the famous White Park cattle.
The area comes into its own in the autumn when the woodland is painted in spectacular orangse and reds. A different mood prevails in the depths of the winter months when a hard frost or a sprinkling of snow adds a graphic nature.
Dinefwr Castle and Castle Wood are ownd by the Wildlife Trust for South and West Wales. Superb panoramic images can be made from the castle's lofty towers and the woodland is famous for its carpet of bluebells in the spring.
This is truly a chance escape to the country and get away from it all in the company of Welsh photographer Andy Davies. This workshop caters for all skill levels, from complete beginners to aspiring professionals. Hands-on expert tuition is provided to small groups who are initially taken back to the fundamentals of photography, rapidly progressing to having full creative control of either digital compact cameras with manual capability or digital single lens reflex cameras (DSLRs) with interchangeable lenses.
Workshops run on most Saturdays throughout the year. Other dates for groups can be arranged on request.

Dreamboats and Petticoats The Musical
Inspired by the smash hit multi-million selling albums DREAMBOATS AND PETTICOATS ONE, TWO, THREE and FOUR, the West End sell out sensation DREAMBOATS AND PETTICOATS THE MUSICAL, featuring some of the greatest hit songs of the Rock 'n' Roll era. The dazzling success of the first three albums in the 'Dreamboats and Petticoats' series sent the message loud and clear. With over 2 millions copies sold and several weeks at the Number One spot in the compilation charts, the Great British public were saying that they didn't just want to listen to pure nostalgia: they'd love to see it as well. Thus 'Dreamboats' was born as a musical, opening at The Churchill Theatre in Bromley in February 2009 to rave critical reviews and wide spread audience acclaim. Over a million people have since been enchanted by an evening of pure hedonistic affection for a more innocent era, when love was young and so was rock 'n' roll. Dreamboats and Petticoats The Musical features classic tracks from Roy Orbison, The
Shadows, Eddie Cochran, Billy Fury, and many more, including LET'S DANCE, TO KNOW HIM IS TO LOVE HIM, SHAKING ALL OVER, BOBBY'S GIRL, LITTLE TOWN FLIRT, ONLY SIXTEEN, RUNAROUND SUE, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEET 16, LET IT BE ME, GREAT PRETENDER, C'MON EVERYBODY, LET'S TWIST AGAIN and many more hits from music's golden era!

Chris Packham - Goes Totally Wild
First and foremost an impassioned naturalist, the compelling and charismatic wildlife TV presenter Chris Packham is also the natural world's equivalent of a photo-journalist.
It was solely a passion for wildlife that led Chris to a life on the small screen. After graduating, he met a wildlife filmmaker, who took him under his wing and trained him as a cameraman. Years later he joined an up and coming children's BBC programme called The Really Wild Show which went on to become a BAFTA winning series for seven or eight years.
Following this, Chris went on to front several live series including Flamingo Watch which was broadcast all over America; wrote and presented his own series about wildlife photography for Channel 4, had a lot of fun with live ITV series called Go Wild, presented umpteen series of Birdwatch, Hands on Nature and Nature's Calendar on BBC2, Animals Guide to Britain and The Truth about Wildlife. A notable highlight was a series from his own production company, entitled Postcards from the Wild which Chris presented with Michaela Strachan where, in the space of just eight months they travelled to 32 different countries. He presents Springwatch and Autumnwatch alongside Kate Humble and Martin Hughes-Games and has made numerous appearances on everything from Saturday Superstore to Call My Bluff.
A hugely gifted photographer both technically and artistically, Chris' latest collection of images from the wild and the wilderness are absolutely exquisite. It is this collection which he will share with you tonight.

Nine
Nine is a unique piece of interactive dance theatre that gives both the company and audience an opportunity to create a truly individual show. Mr and Mrs Clark use a combination of performance styles and film references to deliver a searching pastiche on modern living in nine individual scenes.
The audience have the power to choose not only the order of the show as it unfolds, but also to see sections repeated as many times as they wish, to establish and manipulate the underlying story.
Nine was originally conceived for the Dylan Thomas Fringe Festival as a retrospective.
This brand new version brings the Clarks? trademark twist in the surreal and humorous under the directorship of one of Walesleading choreographers and filmmakers, Sean Tuan John.
Mr and Mrs Clark make physical theatre with strong dance and music elements. Their work has been described as dangerous and unpredictable but with a quirky and entertaining theme throughout. Mr and Mrs Clark are Volcano Theatre Company associate artists.

NT:Live Travelling Light
Transmitted live from The National Theatre, London
A new play by Nicholas Wright
How had a twenty?two?year?old pretentious layabout made a discovery that would elude every other cinematic pioneer for years to come?
In a remote village in Eastern Europe, around 1900, the young Motl Mendl is entranced by the flickering silent images on his father?s cinematograph. Bankrolled by Jacob, the ebullient local timber merchant, and inspired by Anna, the girl sent to help him make moving pictures of their village, he stumbles on a revolutionary way of story-telling. Forty years on, Motl ? now a famed American film director ? looks back on his early life and confronts the cost of fulfilling his dreams.
Following Vincent in Brixton and The Reporter, Nicholas Wright?s new play is a funny and fascinating tribute to the Eastern European immigrants who became major players in Hollywood?s golden age. The award-winning Antony Sher ? whose previous work with the National Theatre includes Primo and Stanley ? returns to play Jacob.

Travelling Light
How had a twenty-two year-old pretentious layabout, quite frankly, in an unknown shtetl, along with a Gentile housemaid, made a discovery that would elude every other cinematic pioneer for years to come?
In a remote village in Eastern Europe, around 1900, the young Motl Mendl is entranced by the flickering silent images on his father?s cinematograph. Bankrolled by Jacob, the ebullient local timber-merchant, and inspired by Anna, the girl sent to help him make moving pictures of their village, he stumbles on a revolutionary way of story-telling.
I was obsessed with the way she looked on screen. I used to say to her, it was as though there was a light underneath her skin. One could see right into her soul. Like she?d invented a new language that everyone in the world could understand.
Forty years on, Motl ? now the famed American film director Maurice Montgomery ? looks back on his early life and confronts the cost of fulfilling his dreams, both to himself and those he left behind.
Following Vincent in Brixton and The Reporter, Nicholas Wright?s new play is a funny and fascinating tribute to the Eastern European immigrants who became major players in Hollywood?s golden age; and a haunting look at the stories we tell about our own lives.
The award-winning Antony Sher returns to the National to play Jacob.

Instead join Dave as he spends a month working alongside a nutcase called Melvin in the summer job from hell whilst trying to save money to take the girl he loves away on holiday with him before she disappears out of his life forever.
